Good stuff!

Fantastic work here. Its not in the range of voice, but more in the miner nuances that give the characters CHARACTER. It doesn't feel forced or faked, and was quite funny at some parts.

You do need a new mic BADLY though. Its a shame to let a $10 peice of equitment hold back talent. The current mic you are using s dull and muddy, and stands out even more when mixed with crisp clear sound FX.

OdellAtkinson responds:

I recorded this in studio. My friend's the DJ there, so it's not a rockband microphone or anything like that, it's high end equipment. But, I do know what you mean. (I think the problem is my friend is a DJ and not a sound technician. [And, after seeing your own work, I'm that much more grateful for your input on my voice work. Please, let me know if you could use my help in the future])

Critique

Not your best work honestly, but I think two big things bog it down. Firstly the intro is misleading melodically. The notes of the lead don't clash per say, but they are not any chord I recognize, and are not as pleasing as they could be. Simply switching this, and using a different sound in the intro would fix that up. For the rest of the song, too much Reverb. It dumbs down the sound quite a bit. The Lead needs a stereo expand or something, as it doesn't LEAD as it should.

This is a rare case where the mixing is bringing the song down. I'd know, my mixing is horrible! The project shouldn't be abandoned though.

Nothing like a good ol' piano song!

Not mind blowing, but by far your best work. I love the themes, style, arrangement, all of that. The reverbing percussion is also quite well placed.

Keep at it!

Sweet

Now you just need to apply this skill to your own melodies. Great use of the velocity settings to give it a 'live' feel, and bring out the true dynamics and serenity of the piano.

A few quiet strings could go along nicely, and you could make up the notes yourself, to add your own stuff to the song as you said you wished to do. A little more length would be sweet as well.

Not horrible

It doesn't clash, its not repetitive, and it has a little energy, but:

You need to sit down in front of a piano and mess around until you have a melody you actually like. I could tell you were just kinda going with this one. If you can play a melody on the piano and like it, then you'll be able to make something of it in a song.

Keep workin at it.

Litterally inspiring...

This song is amazing. I was skeptical at first because the bell that it starts out with sounds very synthesized, but I have to say that this song was literally inspiring! I can't actually think of a time that I've been inspired by a song on newgrounds, especially with a subject I normally don't touch because its cheesier than a three layer pizza (X-Mass).

I might actually have to submit something now, before EVAUSA01. Thank you for this, and please keep it up!

Close to the mark

This started out as a Every Good Emulation of the original song. the first problem was that you did not have a very good sound font. Google for new ones, there are some realy nice ones out there. That I could easly let slide, but the thing that droped this song was the piano solo. That is the best part of the song and was not done properly, or accuretly. If you got new sound fonts, and re-did the piano solo, this song would get a 10 :)

Im impressed

I like this song alot. It will be great for our game :)
